Quarter trillionaire tech tycoon Elon Musk allegedly threatened to burn Warner Bros. Studios down amid claims that actor Jason Momoa had threatened his then girlfriend actress Amber Heard on the set of “Aquaman.” Momoa allegedly attempted to have Heard removed from the sequel.

According to newly released shorthand therapy notes from Heard’s therapist, Mamoa would allegedly show up to the film set intoxicated and dressed as actor Johnny Depp. Depp and Heard were married for two years, with their divorce and subsequent abuse allegations resulting in the highly publicized Depp v. Heard trial, in which Depp sued Heard for defamation over a Washington Post Op-Ed she penned regarding the allegedly abusive nature of the marriage. Depp won the case.

Momoa would use these alleged intimidation tactics to attempt to get the studio executives to fire Heard from the set. Depp’s fans paid the court fees for the release of documents from Heard’s then therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes. The notes first emerged on Reddit, with Variety the first outlet to report their findings. A representative for Momoa declined to comment, but a representative for DC, the company that created the “Aquaman” franchise, said “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’”

An anonymous source who was reportedly on the set of the film in 2021 claimed to Variety  that “Jason works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set. And he isn’t dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style.”

Musk, who was dating Heard at the time of the alleged on set incidents, used his power to keep her spot in the film’s sequel.

Social Media Reactions

Critics of Musk’s controversial beliefs and business practices with his purchase of Twitter (now X under his leadership) were surprised to learn of the lengths he went to for Heard during their relationship. The “Aquaman” allegations were not a part of the Depp v. Heard trial. Musk’s purchase of Twitter has been controversial due in part to changes in platform policies that more easily allow for the spread of misinformation and in part due to the rebranding of the platform’s name and iconic branding.

The Depp v. Heard case continues to divide the internet, over a year after it ended. Some male influencers claim that the case reflected a “men’s rights” issue while others feel that the mass media and public reaction to the case ruined Heard’s chances of winning, and reflected a deeper violence against women issue.

Heard is yet to comment on the newly released therapist notes, and neither has Depp. Musk continues to post memes and information about his varying companies on X, but is yet to address the newly revealed allegations.
