Elon Musk’s app X, formerly known as Twitter, is continuing to try and push more video by launching a new app for smart TV sets.
The video app launched on Tuesday with the company claiming there is a large amount of key features, including a trending video algorithm, artificial intelligence-powered trending topics and cross-device compatibility.
This will give users the ability to watch not only start watching on their mobile device but also continue the viewing experience on other smart TV devices.
The X TV app as of now will not have any ads at the start, but this may change in the future.
“We’re focusing on launching this new feature for consumers first, but we do plan to monetize it, and will discuss different forms of partnerships — and that may include ads,” the note to the public stated.
As of late, the company has given an preview of the video experience to the general public.
The videos included in snippet include a Tucker Carlson interview with Vladimir Putin and footage of a SpaceX rocket taking flight.

Video has been a top priority for the app as of late.
Aside from letting users upload their own videos to the platform similar to its other competitors in the market, the company has also locked in deals with third party companies like Range Media Partners.
That deal included a show hosted by sports personality Jim Rome, with the tech company also unveiling shows hosted by Tulsi Gabbard and Don Lemon.
Lemon’s show was cancelled just before the first episode ran. The former CNN host blasted the CEO after the notice.
“Elon publicly encouraged me to join X with a new show, saying I would have his ‘full support,'” Lemon said in a statement, adding that he took Musk at his word that he was “interested in working directly with diverse voices.”
Lemon said he pressed Musk about the rise in hate speech on X since the billionaire took over the social media platform last year, asking him if he believed that he and the company had a responsibility to moderate hateful content.

“I don’t have to answer questions from reporters, Don,” Musk replied. “The only reason I’m doing this interview is because you’re on the X platform and you asked for it. Otherwise, I would not do this interview.
Lemon also asked Musk about a recent meeting he held with former President Donald Trump. CNN previously confirmed the meeting with Musk, one of several Trump held with donors in Palm Beach in recent weeks as he seeks to raise more money for his financially strained campaign.
X also cut a deal with the WWE to stream Speed matches once per week.
Other applications including TikTok are looking to invest in a TV app experience in the future.
