Cate Blanchett and other big stars are here to save the universe in these first look photos for Borderlands.

In a first look at the upcoming film, Blanchett, 54, is seen with a bold red hairstyle and action packed outfit as character Lilith. The outlaw is making a homecoming to her planet Pandora to search for her missing daughter of Atlas.

The actress’ character teams up with a range of outcasts including former soldier Roland (Kevin Hart), pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Tina’s bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis) and robot Claptrap (Jack Black). In some of the first look photos, fans even get a chance to see the entire team.

Deadline first reported that Blanchett was cast to play Lilith back in May 2020 with the rest of the team signing on the following year. Filming started back in April 2021 in Hungary and wrapped in June. Toward the end of the time on set, Curtis 65, also shared a peek of her costar on Instagram.

“Welcome to BORDERLANDS and a secret BTS shot I took of Lilith, our legendary heroine, psycho blasting, vault hunting, vixen with a bad attitude and two Oscars to add to the baddasery in her tool belt,” the Halloween actress captioned the silhouette of Blanchett. “The once and future Queen of EVERYTHING, #cateblanchett.”

Curtis also teased dropping first look photos of the other characters in the film, including herself, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt (Stuck in the Middle), Romanian actor Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu and more.

A movie adaptation of Gearbox Software’s video game series, Borderlands will see Lilith and co. battle alien monsters and bandits as they traverse Pandora in search of the missing girl. “The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other,” says a synopsis of the forthcoming film.
