More than two decades after charming teen audiences in She’s All That, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook are reuniting onscreen for the upcoming holiday film The Christmas Affair from Fox Entertainment.

The film also marks a reunion with She’s All That co-producer Jennifer Gibgot, who will produce the new project. Fans of the 1999 teen rom-com can expect nostalgic chemistry, now with a festive twist.

A Holiday Romance With a Twist

According to an official synopsis, Cook and Prinze will portray Natalie and Gabe, two “superstar sportscasters” who discover their spouses have been unfaithful — just weeks before Christmas.

Despite being professional rivals, the pair form an unlikely bond during the chaotic holiday season. As media attention intensifies and emotions run high, Natalie and Gabe begin to fall for one another. The central question: is it just a rebound or the start of something real?

“This iconic couple stole our hearts over 25 years ago,” said Hannah Pillemer, head of Scripted at Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “We are grateful to work with them on this all-new romantic comedy filled with holiday magic.”

Back to Where It All Began

Prinze and Cook last played love interests in 1999’s She’s All That, where Prinze portrayed Zack, a high school jock who makes a bet to turn Cook’s socially awkward Laney into prom queen. The film became a defining rom-com of the late ‘90s and launched both stars into mainstream fame.

The movie also featured a memorable ensemble cast, including Matthew Lillard, the late Paul Walker, Gabrielle Union, Anna Paquin, and Kieran Culkin.

Cook later made a cameo in Netflix’s 2021 gender-flipped reboot He’s All That, portraying a new character — the mother of protagonist Addison Rae. Prinze did not appear in the film but reunited with Cook at several events, including the Los Angeles premiere of The Girl in the Pool last year.

Fans React to the Reunion

The announcement of The Christmas Affair sparked immediate excitement among rom-com fans online, many of whom grew up with She’s All That.
