In a shocking TikTok video, a user exposes her local Goodwill for selling questionable items. In the video, which now has over 200 thousand views and counting, she shows that her Goodwill is selling items like rusted Air Freshener to notebooks that were used, shocking many people on the app as people realized that this Goodwill was selling trash, or at least attempting to.
In a follow-up video made by the creator, she warns her audience and notes that the following video was even worse than the first one. Things like empty plastic and bubble wrap were priced, and even lids labeled a dollar with no containers to match. Probably the most shocking was out of the package pills, which many people believed was most likely Benadryl. The users also asked her followers if anyone else’s Goodwill was similar to hers, or if hers is an outlier. Many commenters believed that Goodwill has raised their prices over the years and the things they were selling were not worth it, but not many people reported seeing actual trash like in this video.
One commenter noted that they believed all Goodwills should be shut down, while other users brainstormed how the trash got into the store and was then priced. Some wondered if someone was stealing and then placing the price tags onto random items, while others wondered if it could even be legal to sell trash or pills out of a container like what was shown in the video. One commenter joked that “Goodwill is a joke, we may as well just give them our trash. Their problem now.”
Others, however, worried if this would be the continued state of Goodwills across the board and feared they would be shut down, as they can be important to those without a lot of money to be able to have clothes or other items for lower prices. Overall, many hope this was brought to Goodwill’s attention so it could be addressed.
