Stephen Nedoroscik, the gymnast known online as “Pommel Horse Guy” for his standout performance at the Paris Olympics, has been announced as the first celebrity for the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

The official “Dancing With the Stars” Instagram account shared the news on Thursday, posting, “From Paris to #DWTS! 🥉 We’re thrilled to welcome pommel horse legend @stephen_nedoroscik as the first star of the season.”

Nedoroscik gained widespread attention during the Paris Olympics, where his performances on the pommel horse earned him viral fame. Dubbed “Pommel Horse Guy” in various memes, he captivated audiences with his unassuming personality and remarkable athletic skills.

At the Paris Games, the 25-year-old Nedoroscik impressed fans and critics alike with his bronze medal in the individual pommel horse event and his contribution to Team USA’s bronze in the men’s team final. His performance, characterized by a calm and focused demeanor, led many to draw comparisons to Clark Kent, Superman’s alter ego, highlighting his contrast between an introverted appearance and a formidable athletic prowess.

In an interview with Today, Nedoroscik expressed his enjoyment of the memes, saying, “I’m representing people who wear glasses well.” He also humorously admitted that his glasses-free state makes him quite blind. “I don’t even really see when I’m doing my gymnastics,” he explained. “It’s all in the hands. I can feel everything.”

“Dancing With the Stars” will return for its 33rd season on Tuesday, Sept. 17, airing at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available the following day on Hulu. Additional cast members for the new season will be announced in the coming weeks.
