The Grammy-nominated rapper will appear in the upcoming animated feature, set for release in December.

Rapper Ice Spice has joined the voice cast of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, the upcoming animated feature from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Animation. The news was announced during the studio’s presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France on Tuesday.

Ice Spice, born Isis Gaston, will also contribute an original song to the film. The Bronx native has quickly become a notable figure in music, with multiple platinum records and high-profile collaborations with artists including Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

She recently appeared on the remix of KATSEYE’s viral hit “Gnarly,” marking her first release of the year following her 2024 debut album Y2K! and its deluxe edition Y2K!: I’m Just a Girl. The remix dropped June 6 and is already gaining traction ahead of KATSEYE’s performance at the Kids’ Choice Awards later this month.

She joins a cast that includes Regina Hall, George Lopez, Arturo Castro, and Sherry Cola. Returning cast members from the long-running SpongeBob SquarePants series include Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton). Mark Hamill voices the Flying Dutchman.

Directed by Derek Drymon, a veteran of the SpongeBob franchise, the film follows SpongeBob on an adventure involving a mysterious fairground and a supernatural encounter with the Flying Dutchman. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in the U.S. on December 19, 2025.

The Annecy presentation also featured a preview of Smurfs, another Paramount animated film arriving in July, which stars Rihanna as Smurfette.
