In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Jacob Elordi revealed a humorously specific detail of his preparation for portraying Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola‘s “Priscilla.” The actor explained that he ate a pound of bacon every day to emulate the late Presley’s favorite breakfast meal.

The actor elaborated on the physical impact of the Elvis diet. “It’s not that noticeable because I’m quite long, but I was the biggest I’ve ever been,” said Elordi.

Elordi’s Elvis appears opposite Cailee Spaeny’s Priscilla in the film, which is based predominantly on Priscilla Presley’s memoir “Elvis And Me,” which details the former couple’s relationship, marriage, and subsequent divorce. Presley served as an executive producer on the film. “Priscilla” comes just one year after Baz Luhrman’s acclaimed “Elvis” biopic, which centered the late singer’s perspective and featured Austin Butler in the titular role.

The actor recently spoke out about his desire to not be compared to Butler’s recent “Elvis,” calling the lengths of the comparisons “absurd.”

From “Lilo And Stitch” To A Permanent Accent

In another recent appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” the Australian actor revealed ahead of the “Priscilla” release that he did not truly learn of Elvis’ career until moving stateside, and that he first saw a glimpse in Disney’s “Lilo And Stitch.”

In the film, the titular friendly alien Stitch learns to play the guitar to the tune of Elvis Presley’s “You’re the Devil in Disguise.”

Elordi’s honesty regarding his introduction to Elvis is largely also being praised in part due to his vastly different approach to the part than his recent predecessor Austin Butler. Butler portrayed Elvis in Baz Luhrman’s biopic on the singer last year, and notably attracted criticism over his seemingly permanent deep, exaggerated southern drawl he spoke in during method exercises to get into character. The actor also initially did not credit his ex girlfriend of ten years, actress Vanessa Hudgens, for encouraging him to go for the part during their relationship.

“Priscilla” hit theaters on Nov. 3, and continues to garner critical and audience acclaim. Many continue to praise Spaeny’s embodiment of the real life Priscilla Presley and Elordi’s Memphis tinged Elvis accent, and the dedication to the bacon diet.

Amid Elordi’s comment that he is “quite long” many resurface the number of times that audiences have applauded the notion that he is six-foot-five inches tall.

Elordi’s next role in Emerald Fennel’s “Saltburn” hits theaters Nov. 17. The actor will portrays a mysterious Oxford University student hosting several of his classmates for an eccentric summer at his family’s estate.
