Jamie Foxx is set to return to Fox’s game show Beat Shazam after missing the show’s latest season due to a health scare.

The lastest announcement from the network Monday states that Foxx and daughter Corinne will indeed resume their hosting duties on the show for the seventh season premiering May 28. A medical scare during the filming of Netflix’s movie Back in Action saw Foxx being hospitalized and undergoing a long recovery process.

Foxx has not disclosed the nature of the medical condition, but he did make an appearance at the Critics Choice Association in December. The star hinted at the situation with his physical abilities getting better saying “I couldn’t do that six months ago, I couldn’t actually walk to [the stage],” he said at the time. He also joked that “I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. It was hot in that tunnel too — I don’t know where I was going. ‘Shit, am I going to the right place?’”

Nick Cannon hosted the sixth season of the show in the absence of Jamie Foxx. The actor of the Fox show also was set to emcee another title under the network titled We Are Family, but Anthony Anderson ended up taking on the role.

“Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam,” said Allison Wallach, president unscripted entertainment at Fox Entertainment. “As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”

Beat Shazam comes from Apploff Entertainment, MGM Alternative Television and BiggerStage in association with Shazam. Jeff Apploff, Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick, Lauren Zalaznick, Pat Kiely, Sean O’Riordan and Jamie Foxx executive produce the show.

The 55-year-old actor posted a heartfelt post on social media this past recently in honor of Dixon’s birthday.

“I love you forever and ever happy birthday sis,” he concluded, inviting fans to swipe left for more photos of the birthday gal.

Foxx had a younger sister who passed on October 19th, 2020 at the age of 36.

The Academy Award winner thanked his sister and daughter Corinne Foxx for their protection during his recovery.

“To be honest with you, my sister Deidra Dixon, my daughter Corinne Marie saved my life,” Foxx said as he discussed the medical complication he suffered April 11 on set in Atlanta.
