Jo Koy caught some heat on the internet after making a joke about Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes, but he is defending his comments.
After the host made teh jokes about the January 7 ceremony having fewer cutaways to Taylor Swift than the NFL, cameras spotted the “Karma” singer – whose Eras Tour film was nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement – taking a sip from her glass.

Some online called the comments ‘cheap’ and not the best landing when it came to the roundup of the night.
“Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute,” he told Entertainment Tonight of his Swift joke. “I was just saying it’s less cutaways, that’s all.”

Koy’s joke about Swift – who is currently dating Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs – referred to the massive hype that the couple has been receiving at the NFL games while Swift has been supporting her boyfriend.
Swift even addressed a lot of the fandom toward the relationship in her December cover story for TIME’s Person of the Year.

“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” she noted. “I’m just there to support Travis.”
“I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much,” Swift added, “and p—– off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
Swift recently did not attend the latest game for the Chief’s in Los Angeles against the Chargers on January 7 as it coincided with the Golden Globes and that Kelce was inactive.
This means that many should expect to see the “Midnights” singer when the Chiefs face off against the Miami Dolphins on January 13 in the NFL’s Wild Card round.
