A Kansas landscaper-turned-influencer has raised over half a million dollars for an elderly woman in need after sharing a viral video of his heartwarming act of kindness. Spencer, the creator behind the popular lawn care company SB Mowing, has captured the attention of millions on platforms like TikTok and YouTube by offering free lawn services to neighbors struggling with overgrown yards — particularly the elderly and disabled.

Based in Wichita, Spencer operates SB Mowing, a business that not only provides professional lawn care but also goes above and beyond by helping members of the community who can’t afford to maintain their properties. Many of the company’s videos feature Spencer visiting local residents in need and offering to mow their lawns at no charge.

On January 9, Spencer posted a video on TikTok that quickly became one of the most-watched clips of his career. The video features Spencer meeting Beth, an elderly woman who had struggled for over a month to find someone to help trim her overgrown lawn. She had been facing mounting frustration as her calls for assistance went unanswered.

Spencer explained in a heartfelt message on the GoFundMe page he set up for Beth: “I got a call from a friend at the city, and she told me that there is an elderly lady that is in desperate need of help. So I stopped by her house, and her lawn was getting CRAZY!” He added that Beth had been trying to get help but couldn’t find anyone to assist her. The city had even issued her a warning for her unkempt yard, threatening a fine of $240 — a cost she simply couldn’t afford.

“I completely transformed her lawn for free, and she was in tears. She was so happy,” Spencer wrote.

In the TikTok video, which has since gone viral with nearly 100 million views and 8 million likes, Beth expresses gratitude for Spencer’s unexpected help. “I’m sorry, it’s just a mess,” she says as Spencer surveys her yard. Spencer reassures her, saying, “No worries, I got you,” before offering to clean up the yard and tackle the weeds in her driveway. Her emotional response: “My prayers have been answered.”

By the end of the video, SB Mowing had not only cleaned up Beth’s lawn but also transformed the entire property, leaving her beaming with joy. “Your work makes me twinkle,” she says to Spencer, her voice full of appreciation.

However, Spencer’s efforts didn’t stop there. Upon further reflection, he realized that Beth’s struggles extended beyond her lawn. Viewers noticed that Beth, who uses a cane, had difficulty navigating her home due to accessibility challenges, including a staircase leading up to her front door. This observation prompted Spencer to take further action.

On January 11, Spencer launched a GoFundMe campaign aimed at raising funds to address Beth’s accessibility issues. In a follow-up TikTok video posted on January 12, Spencer explained his plan to use the donations for several home improvements, including building a wheelchair ramp, installing a chair lift for her basement, and repairing her driveway. He also aimed to fund lawn care for the next several years, fix broken windows, and purchase a new bed for Beth.

“I really appreciate everyone that donates to help Beth out,” Spencer said in the TikTok update. “I will make sure that the money goes towards fixing all of the items above or any other accessibility issues that Beth needs. Any leftover money will be given to her in cash, and the rest will be donated to local nonprofits to help other people in the same situation she is in.”

Spencer shared footage of the moment when he told Beth about the fundraising efforts. Her reaction was raw and emotional, as she could hardly believe the outpouring of support from strangers. “Oh, my god,” she says in the video, overcome with tears. “Why?” she asks, astonished by the generosity. Spencer responds, “They kinda fell in love with you and your story. We just wanted to come together as a community to help you out and get you to a better spot.”

Beth’s response is equally touching: “Those are the things dreams are made of.”

The community’s support for Beth has been overwhelming. By January 12, the GoFundMe campaign had exceeded its original $100,000 goal, with donations surpassing $380,000. Spencer’s simple act of kindness has sparked a wave of goodwill, helping to make Beth’s home more accessible and offering hope in a time of need.

The success of the GoFundMe campaign, paired with Spencer’s viral TikTok videos, highlights the power of social media to create meaningful change. Spencer’s generous spirit and willingness to help his community have resonated with millions, demonstrating that sometimes, even the smallest acts of kindness can make a world of difference.

As Spencer continues to share updates about the fundraising progress, it’s clear that his efforts to help Beth have inspired a greater sense of compassion among his followers. What started as a simple lawn care service has now blossomed into a campaign that has changed Beth’s life — and possibly the lives of many others in similar situations.
