Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has now claimed that he believes a car accident resulted in giving him autism. West was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder, as confirmed by his ex wife Kim Kardashian.

The claim comes via text messages that West sent billionaire tech tycoon Elon Musk. The messages were released from Ian Connor to TMZ, a friend of West’s who was reportedly following the rapper’s orders to “get this out there.” Musk previously suspended West’s X account following his purchase of the social media platform, due to a series of antisemitic comments the rapper posted on his account.

Musk has since reinstated West’s account, though the rapper has not been active. It is widely speculated that he lost access to his accounts. The tech tycoon is yet to address the bizarre messages.

Kanye West In Recent History

West revealed earlier this year that he married architect and former Yeezy executive Bianca Censori. It remains unclear whether the marriage is legally binding. Censori’s style has completely changed amid the relationship, and paparazzi images of the couple in Italy raised suspicion regarding her safety. Comedienne Kathy Griffin shared on TikTok that she suspected Censori could be a victim of domestic violence at the hands of the rapper.

Trigger warning! I discuss possible abuse in this video. I can’t help it. I worry. I don’t even know this woman but I still worry. #KathyGriffin

Elsewhere, the effects of the rapper’s antisemitism linger. Ye first made a point to align himself with former Republican President Donald Trump, and more recently graduated to engaging with more far-right figures and spreading antisemitic rhetoric online. Now, his upcoming album was allegedly rejected by a number of labels due to the rapper’s recent track record of hate speech.

Social Media Reactions

Initially, some of West’s fans bought into his conspiracy theories. Outside of his antisemitism and far right views, the rapper once also stated that if he “disappears” and comes back then it “isn’t him.” The rapper was reportedly unreachable leading up to his marriage to Censori, leading some to at first believe this theory to be true. Amid the leaked texts to Musk, however, some believe that West is still suffering a mental health crisis.

As of now, research indicates that vehicular trauma can not cause autism.

Many were shocked at West’s claims.

Some continue to hold compassion for the rapper, and wished him to receive mental health treatment.

West’s ex wife, television personality and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian, has previously spoken on her struggle to coparent with him at this time. However, through it all, Kardashian does wish for West to eventually have a relationship with the four children the former couple shares.

Kardashian is yet to speak out on West’s recent claims.
