Lana Del Rey opened up about her personal life in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar. The alternative multi-genre singer-songwriter confirmed to the publication that despite her history of lilting romantic love songs, she is not in love with anyone at the moment, and is focusing on her tour. The singer’s description of her single era continues to attract viral attention from fans.
“I’m definitely not in love right now. No. Absolutely not in love. Have been, but no… It hasn’t crossed my mind in the last five months on the road or here yet. But give it a week. My history, sure, it’s coming for me at some point,” said Del Rey. Most recently, her track “Margaret” has inspired a number of romantic TikTok trends. The song details the love story of how Del Rey’s longtime producer Jack Antonoff met his now wife, actress Margaret Qualley, who Del Rey is also close personal friends with.
Lmao, “give it a week” is so me.

Many took her comments as a humorous jab at critics who historically misunderstood her music. Del Rey’s music details simultaneously the seedy underbelly of the most glamorous facets of American life, from old Hollywood to southern country clubs, and her own personal journey overcoming trauma.
It took several years for listeners to really understand her songwriting style. She now maintains a massive Gen Z following on TikTok, who even popularized her unreleased music, and some who emulate her vintage aesthetic. Even with the admiration, many young fans recognize that the subject matter Del Rey covers should not necessarily always be taken as an example for young girls, but more so as a fictional story or cautionary tale.
Other singer-songwriters have covered the some of the more grim realities about American life–notably, 21-time Grammy winner Bruce Springsteen, who once referred to the singer as “simply one of the best songwriters in the country, as we speak. She just creates a world of her own and invites you in.”

Outside of the humorous update on her love life, Del Rey revealed that she mistook her astrological sun sign to be a Gemini for years, only to learn that she is actually a cancer. Fans are loving the down-to-earth astrology error, and how much Del Rey’s contemporary culture references juxtapose her classic crooner vocals and vintage infused sonic inspirations.
