After four years together, Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone split up, causing many people to joke that he broke up with her due to her turning 25. If you’re unaware, the actor tends to date women under 25. According to an excel sheet created by a Reddit user, as DiCaprio continues to age, his girlfriends tend to stay in the lower 20s. With Morrone recently turning 25 in June, many claimed that this was due to the phenomenon DiCaprio has of only dating women in their 20s.

According to Newsweek, “dating back to the year 1999 and onwards, DiCaprio had not publicly dated anyone over the age of 25.” Although many argue that women are consenting adults, there is nothing wrong with DiCaprio’s preference for dating younger women. Morrone herself said in 2019: “There are so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps. I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.” But, many find it odd that someone would only seek to date people who are significantly younger than them, especially if this becomes a pattern.

Although there is not any comment from either party about the break-up, with Morrone just recently turning 25, Twitter cannot help but make the assertion that the pattern is continuing. But, some joked that maybe it is not DiCaprio initiating the breakups, but the women instead. “Everyone assumes that he is the one breaking up with all these 25-yr-olds. What really happens is that once a woman’s brain finishes developing, she realizes she doesn’t wanna be with Leonardo DiCaprio,” one person theorized, referring to the fact that the adult brain does not finish developing until the late 20s.

Still, some believe the phenomena will continue, with some observing that DiCaprio’s next girlfriend could have been born in the 2000s, noting that this is “terrifying.” Although Twitter is known to make memes out of anything, some noted that this behavior is actually quite concerning. “Leonardo DiCaprio’s dedication to dropping his girlfriends that he only gets by reputation and name alone the second they hit 25 is genuinely disturbing,” one person said.
