Katy Perry may be leaving American Idol, but there may be another pop singer joining the mix soon.
There has been no confirmation on who will be replacing the “Teenage Dream” singer as of late, but there are quite a few artists who may be taking the spot soon.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the judges spoke to the outlet on where the season 22 competition stood when it came to the top 10. In addition, the team discussed the possibility of Meghan Trainor joining the show to take on Katy’s seat.
Trainor served as a coach for the episode, which had many wondering if she would be the next judge.
“I think Megan’s always been real fun. You know, that’s kinda been her brand, to have fun,” Luke Bryan shared with ET. “[She’s] real witty, so certainly.”
Bryan also admitted that he has many who could also fill the role too, stating that there were at least “10 names” in his head as possibilities. He also admitted he wasn’t ready to share them just yet.
Ryan Seacrest even chimed in on Trainor’s work as a guest judge.

“She was very good,” Seacrest shared. “Megan is a super talent, too, and she’s got a great sense of humor. She’s fun and she’s spontaneous.”
Lionel Richie mentioned that the next judge needs to be able to have fun with the group as well and get along with the group dynamic.
“It’s gotta be fun, but no ego. Because we’re gonna insult each other so much,” Richie said with a laugh. “And when you’re with Luke, he doesn’t know he’s killin’ ya.”
Richie did not give any opinion on the thought of Trainor, but he did in fact give a mention to bring in Kelly Clarkson.
“I’ve got my list, but Kelly, if you don’t have anything else to do, I’d like to drop that out there,” Richie said. “I’m a big fan.”
“Oh, and by the way, Taylor, if you’re available, we’d like to have you out,” he added, referring to the Tortured Poets Department artist. “Call me!”

Katy Perry announced that she would be stepping back from the show earlier this year.
The star went on to also tell ET earlier this year, “I’m just trying to make space for other things,” explained Perry — who shares 3-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with fiancé Orlando Bloom. “It’s not like me ending this show means I’m going to go retire on an island, even though that would be fabulous. I’m gonna go to work.”
American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
