Legendary film director Martin Scorsese, known for “Taxi Driver”, “Goodfellas”, “The Wolf of Wall Street”, and numerous other acclaimed titles, has now turned his attention to the small screen-his daughter, actress Francesca Scorsese’s TikTok account.

Francesca, in typical Gen Z fashion, asked her father the meaning of several popular current slang terms, ranging from “rizz” to “slay” and everything in between. The trend began circulating several months ago, with young TikTok users inviting their parents and grandparents to participate. The TikTok is being met with mixed reactions.

Commenters were mostly shocked to see the film icon in an unusually casual and personal setting. Top comments on the video read “Can’t believe we live in a world where I get to watch Martin Scorsese become familiar with the term sneaky link. Blessings,” and “he served I fear (I cannot believe I exist in a timeline where I can watch Martin Scorsese film TikToks).”

This is not Scorsese’s first appearance on Francesca’s TikTok account. Back in July, the actress hopped on a trend based on a tweet that read “I wish people had a thirty second trailer so you could see what you’re getting yourself into” and made a montage of her father’s wholesome and humorous behind-the-scenes moments. The actress has made several appearances in her father’s films, including book-to-film adaptation “Hugo.”

Social Media Reactions

Many picked out their favorite moments from the father-daughter duo’s video on X.  The wide generational divide sparked plenty of commentary on the future of filmmaking, and the importance of intergenerational communication. Francesca Scorsese is pursuing a career in filmmaking herself.

Others recalled the humorous reaction Scorsese had to the term “sneaky link.” The term refers to a secret intimate relationship. Scorsese recalled his own youth in response, finding it baffling that today’s youth sometimes only see one person even if it is a casual relationship.

While Scorsese’s films have long been widely critically acclaimed, the lengthy run times sometimes deter the average viewer. Some joked that like his films, even this TikTok was long.

Elsewhere, some found if funny that Scorsese still remembered Entertainment Tonight’s negative reviews of “The King Of Comedy”, which premiered decades ago.

Scorsese’s latest film, “Killers Of The Flower Moon,” will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert DeNiro, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, and more. The film, based on the novel of the same name, details the mysterious 1920s murders of several members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma. The film drops October 20.
