The former president watched TikTok star Matt Friend’s impersonations at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday and the comedian had quite the response.

Friend has been a popular personality online for his impressions, but after his impression of former President Donald Trump and jokes about South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem killing her dog, some were not so happy.

The former president took to TruthSocial over the weekend to make comments about the dinner.

“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad,” Trump posted on TruthSocial over the weekend. “Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this.”

Though not directly named in the post, Friend, who prominently joked about the former president as well as Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, screenshotted Trump’s criticism and added a reference of his own to the mix, both to his own Noem bit and to Trump’s long history of comparing people to dogs.

“We’re getting closer! Thanks for watching, LIKE A DOG!” Friend wrote on Instagram.

As mentioned numerous times by the former president, he enjoys to insult someone by comparing them to the animal.

After his former The Apprentice contestant Omarosa Manigault Newman was dismissed from her brief White House job in 2018, Trump gloated about his administration “firing that dog!

In addition, After ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed by American military forces in 2019, Trump remarked that the terrorist “died like a dog.”

Celebrities like Drew Barrymore congratulated the star on the comedic act.

The comedian has made a name with his skilled impressions of celebrities like Howard Stern, Jeff Goldblum, John Oliver, and now Trump himself.

“Friend in High Places,” the stars upcoming podcast, will launch later this spring on Bill Maher‘s Club Random Studios network, joining a roster that includes Maher, Billy Corgan, Fred Durst, Sage Steele and Kevin Garnett.

Inspired by the late-night talk show format, Friend says he aims to be at the intersection of Maher, Graham Norton, Jimmy Fallon and Sean Evans of “Hot Ones.”

“There will be politics, but it’s going to be lighter,” Friend tells Variety. “There will be a variety showcase element to it where I might do a topical sketch or comment on something in the news, but at the same time I’m going to be having longer conversations with actors and athletes and politicians. I love talking to people that have accomplished amazing things and putting them in relaxed, comfortable environments and then generating viral content.”

With one million TikTok followers and nearly half a million on Instagram, Friend has taken his knack for celebrity impressions to the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and other red carpets.
