Megyn Kelly Recieves Backlash After Tweet Chain of Insensitive Comments Following Meghan Markle’s Oprah Interview

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke the internet yesterday, when their interview with Oprah Winfrey released heart-breaking information regarding the couple’s time in the royal palace. Meghan recalled moments of racism, false accusations, and refusal to allow her access to the mental health resources she needed. The interview was in an in-depth look at the abuse and mistreatment Markle received by both the Royal family and British press, to whom she felt she was not protected from.

While the majority of the internet and celebrities felt for Markle and her husband, and the mistreatment they have dealt with, one outspoken celeb was not having it. Megyn Kelly, the former Fox News anchor and host of the Megyn Kelly Show, took to Twitter to express her frustrations with the interview, and they were less than flattering, to say the very least.

Megyn Kelly’s Chain of Tweets

Kelly wrote several angry tweets surrounding Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah. Most of the anger stemmed from the idea that both Meghan and Prince Harry are incredibly privileged and that they were not oppressed enough within the royal family to have genuine complaints.

In this tweet, Kelly wrote, “Meghan says she felt like the Little Mermaid who “fell in love with a prince and lost her voice.’ I’m sure it was indeed a shock to learn someone else would be in charge IN THE BRITISH ROYAL FAMILY. This is why Harry’s ex girlfriends wanted nothing to do with this life.”

Megyn made it clear in this statement that she did not believe the victimhood was justified stating,”In which M & H pretend that no royal has had it worse in the press than they have. Give me a break. Have you ever seen such privileged people wallowing in their own (perceived) victimhood like this?”

Kelly shared a Page Six article with the caption, “Everyone victimizes Meghan! Everyone! The palace! The press! Even her dad – who had no money, no clue, and was swept up in a whirlwind of press he had zero understanding of how to handle – he too is a villain! She is – again – the victim. It never stops.”

Kelly also retweeted this article titles, “Meghan Markle Inspires Millions Of Young Girls With Message That No Matter How Famous, Rich, And Powerful They Are, They Will Always Be Oppressed.” It seems as though Kelly does not believe that successful people can suffer abuse and mistreatment, even though Kelly, an extremely successful author and Fox News Talk show host, came forward about sexual assault perpetrated against her at the station several years ago. Double standard, much?

Backfire Follows

As most people understand and applaud the formerly-Royal couple for coming forward about their painful history, Kelly received major backfire for her chain of tweets.

Many fans could not help but laugh at Kelly’s tweet where she offered Oprah, the most famous talk show host of all time, advice on how to interview, stating, “Oprah stayed too broad-I wanted more: “who?…Be specific…what exactly did they say? Who was jealous of M after Australia? How did u know that? What do you mean ur family hasn’t “educated themselves” the way u have? They’re racists? WHO?” Eventually they’d have to get specific.”

Rosanna Arquette wrote,”Megan Kelly telling Queen Oprah how to do an interview actually made me laugh out loud. Megan Kelly wishes she had the integrity ,grace and class of Oprah Winfrey, alas ,that Will never happen,” referring to the tweet when Kelly attempted to criticize Oprah’s questions.

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, continue to be supported by their fans and several other celebrities who stand behind them in solidarity. Megyn Kelly may hate on the interview and the power couple, but at the end of the day, Kelly was not there to affirm nor deny the claims when Markle suffered untreated mental health issues, and racist remarks against her and her son.
