Meta is expanding its AI hardware ambitions with a bold new collaboration, a high-performance smart glasses line with Oakley.

Unveiled on Friday, June 20, the Oakley Meta HSTN marks the launch of a new “Performance AI” category, combining Oakley’s street-meets-sport aesthetics with Meta’s AI assistant and hands-free capture tech.

With open-ear speakers, a built-in Ultra HD 3K camera, and water resistance rated IPX4, the glasses aim to serve both athletes in motion and fans on the sidelines. They ship with voice-activated Meta AI integration, allowing users to check the weather, record video, and ask on-the-go questions.

The drop follows Meta’s success with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which emphasize lifestyle use and social capture. While those frames found mass-market traction (selling millions since launch), the Oakley Meta HSTN is clearly pivoting toward utility and endurance. Meta’s announcement emphasizes the product’s durability, fast-charging battery (50% in 20 minutes), and a total runtime of up to eight hours, alongside a backup charging case good for an additional 48.

Backing the launch is a star-studded campaign fronted by Team Oakley athletes, including Kylian Mbappé, Patrick Mahomes, J.R. Smith, and Gabriel Medina.

Limited preorders begin July 11 at $499 for the HSTN edition, with the broader Oakley Meta line starting at $399. The glasses will be available across North America, much of Europe, and Australia, with additional global regions, including India and Mexico, to follow.

The Oakley Meta HSTN will also take center stage at several major events this summer, including Fanatics Fest (June 20–22) and UFC International Fight Week (June 25–27).
