TikToker Mikayla Nogueira is defending herself after she didn’t get to a self tanner review on time with Illusion Bronze.

As previously reported by What’s Trending, Illusion Bronze CEO Matthew Stevens took to TikTok when he claimed that notable lifestyle content creator, Mikayla Noguiera, didn’t give a review of his product when she said she would. In a viral video, Stevens detailed how he stocked up on product when a potential review would drop to hopefully garner massive sales, but it never actually happened.

In his video that has nearly 3 million views online, Stevens details how he recently created a unique and brilliant self tanner that has 125 shades that matches customers based on their eye color, hair color, and skin tone. As of late, a major beauty competitor, as Stevens claims, was targeting his fanbase and attempting to take his potential customers.

i’m sorry mikayla, i tried to handle this privately. but you don’t care. i never would have spent all of this money had you not told me you were posting the next day. if you tell someone you’re going to do something, you do it. my mental health has been s*** this last month because of this. #smallbusiness #selftan #mikaylanogueira #beautyreview

Stevens at first thought it was a coincidence that a new product was coming up on the scene, but when they started targeting those creators who had already reviewed his product he knew something was fishy.

From there, Stevens made a video asking popular beauty guru Mikayla Nogueira to review his very own product. He claims just a few short days later, she reviewed his competitor on TikTok, who only had their product out for a mere six months. The founder thought this seemed like a coincidence until that moment.

After some time, the beauty guru reached out to Stevens saying the situation was merely a chance they came together in such a close timeline. In October, Nogueira sent multiple messages back and forth with Stevens, and the two even had a phone call where she claimed she would never intentionally try to hurt a small business. Mikayla then promised she would do a review of his product.

After those months and multiple fans asking for a review on her profile, Mikayla messaged Stevens in December claiming she would be posting a video the very next day.

Due to this notice, Stevens, by his own will with no contractual agreement in place, took out a $10,000 loan with Shopify to stock up on product for the review, which never came. Mikayla posted photos and claimed she had tried the product, but Stevens didn’t believe it.

Mikayla claimed she tried the product and slept in it, but Stevens claims she allegedly got a spray tan and lied to him. The founder told Nogueira how much product he had at his house stressed about the situation, in which she said she would review the product. Yet, after New Year’s Eve and January passing by with Stevens seeing multiple alleged spray tans from the artist, she never did end up posting a review.

Stevens claims that Mikayla later blocked and commented back on people who requested the Illusion Bronze review on her profile.

And now after less than a day from the initial post, Mikayla is taking to TikTok to claim that she likes Matthew, but found it “very unfortunate that he decided to take this issue to TikTok and fabricate a lie to in order to prove a point.”

Mikayla admitted that she did not get to the review and admitted that she should have gotten to the review sooner.

The artist also shut down the comments claiming that she got a spray tan stating “I have never gotten a spray tan in my life.” Nogueira also claimed that the color grading on videos made it appear that she did appear different.

The beauty guru also claimed that she ‘was going to get to it’ in regards to the review. She also stated, “if you look at my track record of tanner videos … I do them like once or twice a year, and I don’t tan often at all.”

She closed the video stating “he cannot rely on me for the success of his brand.”
