Actress turned singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus is finally speaking out on her side of the story regarding several of her most controversial career moments, and her reason for stepping away from touring.
Cyrus dropped the emotionally charged “Used To Be Young” on August 25. The track loosely references Cyrus’ infamous VMAs performance and high profile departure from her Disney era on “Hannah Montana.” The singer’s new single is accompanied by an ongoing TikTok series, in which the singer delves deeper into numerous pivotal moments in her life.
Cyrus began the series by explaining her father, country singer Bill Ray Cyrus’, rise to fame in the music industry.

She went on to detail the audition process for Hannah Montana, the character that catapulted Cyrus to a new level of tween stardom. Cyrus and her father were cast as a father-daughter duo in the show, in which Cyrus played a teenage pop star living a double life that allowed for her to attend school and reach fame at the same time.

Following sharing the nostalgic video clips of her early career as a child actress, Cyrus got into the deeper ramifications of a lasting career in the entertainment industry. The singer previously stated prior to the release of her recent album “Endless Summer Vacation” that she had no plans to tour in support of the new music. In the new TikTok series, the singer elaborated on her reasoning.

Cyrus essentially told viewers that she prefers to remain in her true ego state in honor to write raw and honest music. While fans were disappointed to learn that the singer would not be touring anytime soon, they appeared understanding about her logic.

Elsewhere, fans theorize that the singer will eventually decide to tour again, and may even follow Taylor Swift‘s lead with “The Eras Tour.” Swift’s tour encompasses material from all ten of her studio albums. Cyrus has released eight studio albums. The singer’s career spans decades, and has particularly touched the lives of Gen Z fans.
