Netflix has officially unveiled the first look at Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher following the exit of Henry Cavill.

The new teaser, as shared per Netflix, showcases Geralt leading his horse to water in a foggy night. Slowly turning around after hearing some strange noises, the new face behind the character is revealed to fans.

The post reads, “The journey continues. Here’s your first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher.”

Back in October 2022, Netflix announced that Cavill would not be returning to the series after just three seasons.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” he explained in a statement. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

Hemsworth also took the time to express how grateful he was for the opportunity.

“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,” he shared in a statement.

Hemsworth even praised Cavill for his time on the series.

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” he wrote.

Back in 2021, the star admitted he intended to stick through the shows for at least seven seasons, as per the goal of series creator Laurnen Schmidt.

“Absolutely,” Cavill said at the time about staying with the series. “As long as we can keep telling great stories which honor Sapkowski’s work.”

“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia,” The Witchershowrunner Lauren S. Hissrich told EW in an exclusive statement. “Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1 — scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us.”

Netflix, however, announced that the series will be indeed ending with a fifth season. The final two installments are filming back to back.
