For Mother’s Day yesterday, singer Nick Jonas and his wife Priyanka Chopra shared the first photo of their daughter, covering her face with an emoji for privacy. In January, the couple announced that they welcomed their baby girl to the world through surrogacy. But, in a remarkably vulnerable post on Twitter, Jonas says that “After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home.” Mother’s Day can be an emotional day for some and can be sensitive for some, and this post was no different. The pair began to trend online as people sent their good wishes and others shared their journeys with their children in the NICU.

In the caption, Jonas thanked the nurses and doctors at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles. “Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is.” This is the pair’s first child, which can be even more stressful. He went on to encourage his wife, writing “but I want to take a minute to say a special Mother’s Day wish to my incredible wife on her first Mother’s Day.”

Many appreciated this vulnerable perspective, as people often forget how difficult holidays like Mother’s day can be for some. ” We were in the NICU for only a few weeks but it was such a challenge and getting them home was such a feeling. Congrats” Joe Seiders, a musician, wrote online. “We are currently going through the NICU journey with our little one. Harder than anyone can ever imagine” a Twitter user wrote.

Many were also happy to see that the couple respected their child’s privacy by covering her face, which has been a recent concern online and among family bloggers. “How blessed is that little baby girl to have both of you as her parents,” one fan wrote.
