The magical mischief of the Four Horsemen is set to return to the big screen with a new chapter in the Now You See Me franchise. The third installment of the hit series, titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, is scheduled to open in theaters on November 14, 2025. And fans can rest assured — this will not be the last time they see the iconic team of illusionists, as a fourth film is already in the works.

At CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners, Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chair, Adam Fogelson, announced the exciting news that director Ruben Fleischer will return for the next installment. The studio has expressed high hopes for Now You See Me 3 and is already eager to continue the story with Fleischer at the helm for the fourth film.

“We were so happy with the director’s cut, we’re already developing the next chapter,” Fogelson said during a Tuesday morning panel at the event. “We can’t wait for audiences to discover what Ruben has done with the third film, and we’re thrilled that he’ll be making even more magic with us.”

A Return to the World of Thieves and Illusionists

Now You See Me 3 will once again follow the adventures of the Four Horsemen — a group of skilled illusionists who use their magical abilities to pull off daring heists. The original film, released in 2013, and its 2016 sequel, Now You See Me 2, were both box office hits. The first film grossed over $350 million worldwide, while the second earned $334 million, proving that audiences are captivated by the franchise’s mix of crime, magic, and suspense.

The third film will see the return of key cast members from the first two movies, including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, and Morgan Freeman. However, the story will take a new direction, with a fresh set of characters joining the ensemble. Ariana Greenblatt and Rosamund Pike will join the cast, adding to the intrigue of the upcoming heist adventure.

“We’re so excited to bring back the Horsemen and introduce a new generation of illusionists to the franchise,” Fogelson said. “This film is going to expand on what audiences loved about the first two movies, but also take the story to new, unexpected places.”

The Story of Now You See Me 3

As revealed in a first-look trailer at CinemaCon, Now You See Me 3 picks up with a significant shift in the storyline. The Four Horsemen are no longer together, and Eisenberg’s character introduces a new generation of magicians to the plot. In the opening moments of the film, he tells a group of young illusionists that his former comrades are “dead.” He goes on to explain, “Things got too real for them. They gave up stuff.”

Despite the disbandment of the Horsemen, the story quickly escalates into a high-stakes diamond heist, involving both the original group of illusionists and a new team of up-and-coming magicians. Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa will join forces with Eisenberg, Harrelson, and the rest of the crew to take down a dangerous criminal network.

The trailer, which has not yet been released to the public, promises intense action and suspense as the new and old Horsemen team up to tackle one of their most daring heists yet. “I like our odds,” Greenblatt’s character says in the trailer, hinting at the confidence and risk-taking that will define the film.

The Magic of Heist Movies and the Return of Ruben Fleischer

Ruben Fleischer, who directed Now You See Me 3, expressed his excitement about working on the film, noting that it was an experience he thoroughly enjoyed. Fleischer, known for his work on films like Zombieland and Venom, said that directing the third installment of Now You See Me was a dream come true.

“Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career,” Fleischer said. “It combines two of my favorite things — heist movies and magic — and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course, I want to keep it going.”

Fleischer’s enthusiasm for the project is reflected in his commitment to return for the fourth film, continuing the story that has captivated audiences for nearly a decade. Lionsgate’s Fogelson echoed this sentiment, expressing the studio’s excitement for what’s to come. “We’re incredibly happy with Ruben’s work on Now You See Me 3, and we can’t wait to see where he takes the franchise next.”

What’s Next for the Now You See Me Franchise?

The third film promises to build on the world created in the first two movies while introducing new dynamics, both in terms of the storyline and the cast.
