  • Did you know they’re rebooting Blue’s Clues and doing an open call to find a new Steve? Oh, do you not remember Steve? I mean, I assume you do because our entire audience, I assume, are all trendy teenagers who grew up with this thing, but just in case you’re somehow as old as me (29, that’s like — a million years in snarky teenage time), Steve was Blue’s charming host who would lead the kids at home into helping Blue the dog figure out whatever the heck the non-verbal animal wanted us to know about the world today.

  • The original host was Steve Burns, a charming and affable man who, in today’s the circles, is the main character in plenty of affable small talk made at parties about what he’s up to now. Did you know he makes music now? And, did you see his appearance on The Moth? Outrageous. Well, during the open casting call, one surprising figure threw his hat in the ring — and trust us, this guy is very familiar with rings — professional wrestler, and now comedic actor (Blockers coming soon), John Cena!

  • Although the appearance was part of Nickelodeon’s upfronts, and not a real audition (I think), it was still exciting, and the very idea of the appearance got positive reactions…

  • Except for one man… STEVE FROM BLUE’S CLUES. You know, the original Steve. Steve Burns. The guy actually named Steve. Check it out. He challenged John Cena to wrestle in the ring.

  • I don’t know about Blue, but if I was leaving clues it would be on a glass of water, a computer, and an eyeball — and the answer would be the Internet makes us all damn thirsty for attention and it’s kind of weird. Still, the idea of John Cena probably murdering Steve Burns in the ring got people excited…
