Presley Gerber, the model and only son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died. He was 27.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said Gerber died Sunday while at a rehab facility. The cause of death was not listed. An investigation into the cause is ongoing. In a statement, the family said it “is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Born in 1999 in Beverly Hills, California, he was the elder child of Crawford and Gerber and the brother of Kaia Gerber. He followed his mother into fashion early. He signed with IMG Models at 15 and made his runway debut for Moschino at 16. He went on to walk for Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and appeared alongside his mother in a 2018 Pepsi Super Bowl ad. His campaign work included Calvin Klein, Celine and Omega.
In recent years, Gerber spoke openly about the parts of his life that were harder to see. On the Studio 22 podcast in 2023, he talked about using his platform to raise mental health awareness, calling the issue “such a big part of my life.” He ran his own Mental Health Mondays initiative and worked with nonprofits including A Sense of Home, a Los Angeles homelessness charity.
Last December, he posted a since-removed Instagram video about his use of prescription medication, including antidepressants and Xanax for panic attacks, and said he had experienced a lot of loss recently. Crawford responded publicly at the time, telling her son that the family loved him and that he was not alone.
He is survived by his parents and his sister.
