Shakira has been sent eviction papers from her former father-in-law and is taking her kids to Miami, and the internet is up in arms.
The famous “Waka Waka” singer herself is officially bidding Spain farewell according to local news outlets. The pop-star thanked those who made her time in Barcelona so special on social media. The former athlete’s dad, Joan Piqué, supposedly sent Shakira an email on March 13th asking her to vacate the couple’s former home by April 30th or pay compensation.
And it seems like instead of getting another residence in the country, Shakira is simply taking her children as far away from this family as she possibly can. Well, Miami that is.
The 46-year-old singer who shares two children with the former soccer player, bid Spain farewell with an emotional Instagram post.
In the Instagram post translated from Spanish to English, she wrote “I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.”
The star also went on to thank those who made her time in Barcelona so special, calling the city where she learned “friendship is undoubtedly longer than love.”
The star also went on to say “Today we begin a new chapter in the search for your happiness. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me there, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow. Thanks to my Spanish audience who have always covered me with their love and loyalty.”

According to the Daily Mail. Shakira is taking her family to Miami where the children will be starting school in late April.
Shakira was reportedly looking very emotional at the airport with her children, Milan and Sasha, as they moved out of the city over the weekend.
Shakira and Piqué split due to an alleged affair that happened with now girlfriend Clara Chia Marti with the internet in an uproar when this news broke.
And yes, many were outraged to hear the news when Shakira reportedly found out that her jam supply was slowly dwindling in her household when her husband didn’t even like jam.
The singer hinted at the jelly fiasco in her music video for “Te Felicito”.
And in her new collaboration titled “TQG”, Shakira hinted that there was a “place in hell” for Gerard’s new girlfriend.

Back in March of 2023, the singer even admitted that she has quite the rough year and had to “put up with so much crap.” Many fans rallied behind the singer with her diss track and bopped along on TikTok as well.
According to Gerard Piqué, the former husband is “very happy” and not apologizing after his breakup last year. “I keep doing what I want,” the former professional soccer player told El Pais.
He also went on to say “The day I die, I will look back and hope I have always done what I wanted. I want to be faithful to myself. I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image.”
