Shakira is offering one lucky fan the chance to ride like her — literally. In a heartwarming announcement on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the Colombian pop icon revealed that she is giving away her customized purple car as part of a new contest to celebrate her latest single, “Soltera.” The car, which holds deep personal significance for Shakira, will be gifted to one fan in recognition of the overwhelming love and support she’s received recently.

The contest is a collaboration with Univision and serves as a gesture of gratitude from Shakira to her fans, many of whom have followed her journey through both triumphs and challenges. The customized car was a special gift Shakira gave herself as she entered a new chapter in her life — one of independence following her split from ex-partner Gerard Piqué.

In a press release, Shakira explained the personal meaning behind the car. “This car was a gift to myself as I began my single life, but I realized that what truly matters is human connection,” the 47-year-old singer shared. “The car, the clothes, the material things — they don’t transform us. It’s the people we love and the connections we build that truly make a difference.”

Shakira’s statement is a reflection of the emotional journey she has navigated since her breakup with Piqué, with whom she shares two children. While the material gifts represent a milestone in her personal life, the star emphasized that it is the bonds with loved ones that have helped her heal and move forward.

“Soltera,” which was released on Sept. 25, has quickly become a fan favorite, climbing to the Global Top 50 charts on Spotify. The song, which celebrates living independently and embracing the freedom of being single, has resonated deeply with Shakira’s audience, especially in the wake of her highly publicized separation from Piqué.

Healing Through Music and the Release of “Soltera”

The launch of “Soltera” is part of a broader period of reflection and creative expression for Shakira. Her seventh studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), was released earlier this year and has been a significant milestone in her personal and professional journey. The album, which blends pop, reggaeton, and Latin sounds, has been well-received by both critics and fans, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.

In a recent cover interview with GQ Spain, Shakira opened up about the healing process following her split from Piqué. She shared how songwriting helped her navigate the difficult emotions of grief and heartache. “For many months after my separation, I had been silent, trying to begin my mourning, but I couldn’t really begin to grieve until I started writing music,” Shakira explained. “It was my way of healing. And it continues to be. Grief is a process that is not linear. It is full of peaks and valleys.”

Shakira also spoke about how the breakup has changed her perspective on love. “It’s not the same. The love of a partner disappointed me. It affected my idiosyncrasy. It’s inevitable, at least for the moment, that I have lost trust in the other,” she admitted. Despite this, she remains optimistic about the future and acknowledges that her emotional experiences provide rich material for her music. “The healing process is long. It will take me several albums!” she joked.

Shakira’s Career and Personal Evolution

Shakira and Piqué were together for 11 years before announcing their separation in 2022. The breakup sparked widespread media attention, and rumors of infidelity began to surface. Piqué, the former soccer star, eventually started a relationship with Clara Chía Marti, further fueling public interest in the split. Through it all, Shakira has continued to evolve both as an artist and as a person, using her music as a form of self-expression and healing.

As Shakira looks toward the future, she has already announced plans for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which will kick off in May 2025. Fans are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see her perform live as she continues to inspire with her resilience and artistry.
