Actress Sofia Vergara announced her split from actor Joe Manganiello after seven years of marriage. In a statement to Page Six, the couple said “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.” The couple married in 2015.
The split comes after the actress recently travelled to Italy to celebrate her 51st birthday. Fans speculated that the split was coming prior to the announcement, when the actress shared a photo of herself sans wedding ring. Mangianello additionally has posted heartfelt messages to his wife on her birthday every year, but this year only posted one photo and a simple birthday message. The change of tone set off alarm bells across the internet.

The History
The couple first met in 2014, and became engaged after six months of dating. They wed the following year. Shortly prior to her relationship with Manganiello, Vergara dated entrepreneur and actor Nick Loeb for two years. Following her marriage to Manganiello, Loeb attempted to sue Vergara for rights to their in vitro fertilized embryos that were stored in a California clinic. The suit was later dropped.
Vergara has one son, Manolo, from her first marriage, in which she married her high school boyfriend. Manganiello did not have any public relationships with other celebrities prior to his marriage to Vergara. Their relationship dynamic captured hearts of thousands of viewers.
