Spotify is making it easier for video podcasters to earn, announcing a slate of creator-focused updates tied to the one-year anniversary of the Spotify Partner Program.
The updates, revealed Jan. 7, expand access to monetization, simplify sponsorship management and allow creators to publish and monetize video podcasts on Spotify without switching hosting platforms.
Spotify is lowering eligibility thresholds for the Partner Program, opening the door for smaller and emerging shows. Creators now need 1,000 engaged listeners, 2,000 hours consumed over 30 days and just three published episodes to qualify, down significantly from last year’s requirements.

The company is also rolling out new sponsorship tools this spring, letting creators easily add, remove or replace host-read ads in video episodes, schedule sponsorship updates in advance and track performance over time. The goal is to make ad revenue more flexible without forcing creators to constantly re-edit content.
Another major shift is the introduction of Spotify’s Distribution API, which will allow creators to publish and monetize video on Spotify directly from participating hosting platforms. Launch partners include Acast, Audioboom, Libsyn, Omny and Podigee, with more integrations planned.
