Paris Hilton, socialite, businesswoman, queen of the early 00’s club scene and slogan t- shirts, is taking on a new venture–motherhood. Hilton and her husband investor Carter Reum have welcomed their first child via surrogate. The couple previously spoke about beginning their IVF journey at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hilton and Reum initially met in their early 20s, but reconnected at his sister’s Thanksgiving dinner years later. They were married in 2021.

Celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Nina Dobrev and more congratulated Hilton on motherhood in the comments of her Instagram post. Others speculated baby names–could Paris be naming her child after another major city, like London, Milan, or Rome?

Gen Z has recently taken a liking to Hilton’s 2003 reality show The Simple Life, which featured Hilton and Nicole Richie, both from famously wealthy families, working service jobs. Her style continues to inspire the y2k revival in the fashion and pop culture world.

Some ran with the joke about other famous people reincarnating as celebrities’ babies (this came from the theory that Queen Elizabeth II reincarnated as YouTuber Trisha Paytas’ baby, born on the same day of her death).

While Paris did not reveal the sex of the baby herself, or their name, her sister Nicky Hilton-Rothschild confirmed the baby is a boy. Rothschild shared a sweet throwback photo in honor of the news.

Hilton famously spent a lot of time in New York City’s clubs. The Empire State building glows in her honor today.

Some fans were surprised to learn that Hilton had a son, given her affinity for all things pink and stylish.

Hilton has not publicly spoken on her choice to have her child via surrogate. Some were quick to criticize the decision, while others felt that the choice could have been for medical reasons, and that Hilton has every right to keep that information private.

Countless celebrities have chosen to have children via surrogate in recent years for varying reasons. Kim Kardashian and Ye opted for surrogacy for their third and fourth children, Chicago and Psalm, because Kardashian suffered from a condition called placenta accreta during her first two pregnancies.

Before the big news announcement last night, Hilton announced the release of her upcoming memoir, Paris: The Memoir. She intends to speak more to her personal story that wasn’t shown in the glamorous paparazzi photos of the early 00’s. She most recently has repeatedly spoken out against Provo Canyon School, a boarding school she was sent to as a teenager that she alleged physically and emotionally abused students.

The multi-billion dollar troubled teen industry has come to the forefront of public discussion in recent years. Investigative journalism and former students speaking out has played a part in the shutdown and reform of several of these institutions.

Hilton’s memoir is set to be released on March 14, and is currently available for pre-order.
