As we quickly approach the beloved musical festival Coachella, fans were disappointed after being told that Kanye West was dropping out of one of the event’s headliners.  And although West did not give a comment or explanation as to why he would not be performing, many agree it is most likely due to West’s recent erratic and unpredictable behavior towards ex-wife Kim Kardashian and SNL comedian Pete Davidson. Although West was nominated for a Grammy, he did not attend the award show either.

Since it was announced only nine days before the festival, many anticipated the announcement informing fans who would be replacing West. Today, it was announced that the Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd would be doing a performance together, taking the place as a final headliner for the last day and following headline performances from Billie Eilish and Harry Styles.

Now, Coachella and both performers are trending on Twitter, as fans had speculated who would be taking their place. Some wondered if it would be Doja Cat or Silk Sonic. But now, with this announcement, many are celebrating the news. Coachella is important to many, as the two-weekend event is anticipated throughout the year. This year, they are expecting 125,000 attendees a day, so it makes sense that this announcement caused such a stir online.

Although many were excited, some were bummed that Doja Cat would not be headlining. Although she is already in the lineup, many hoped that she would become a headlining act, especially in light of her recent Grammy win with SZA. Others had hoped for Silk Sonic, who received a lot of excitement after their Grammys performance this past weekend. Either way, this announcement generated a lot of excitement for the upcoming festival, although some are still disappointed to not see Kanye West live.
