Keke Palmer and SZA Will be starring in an a yet to be titled buddy comedy for Tristar Pictures.
Lawrence Lamont (“Rap Sh!t”) is set to direct with the screenplay, written by “Rap Sh!t” showrunner Syreeta Singleton.
The project will be coming together from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures.
HOORAE’s Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi, ColorCreative’s Deniese Davis and MACRO Film Studios’ Charles D. King, James Lopez, and Poppy Hanks are producing.
Singleton is co-producing. Big Boss’ Palmer and Sharon Palmer are executive producing. MACRO Film Studios is coming on board to co-finance and produce.
CoCre lab was a previous pact between ColorCreative and Columbia Pictures to source and incubate emerging and upcoming diverse screenwriters to develop and write their first studio feature.

Palmer and SZA were first working together when they teamed up for SNL in December 2022. The “Akeela and the Bee” actress was a host while the “Saturn” singer was the musical guest for the episode.
Lamont has directed music videos for some of the music industry’s biggest artists including, J. Cole, Big Sean, Kanye West, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jhene Aiko, Nas and Snoop Dogg.
Palmer has gone on to be an Emmy-winning actress, singer, producer, and television host.
As of late, the star went on to star in “Nope” from Jordan Peele.
She also made history as the first woman to win outstanding game show host at the 2023 Emmys for her recent show host duties on NBC’s reboot of “Password.”
This will be SZA’s first acting debut in a project. The singer is an Academy Award winning recording artist and has gone on to garner hundreds of millions of streams for her music.
