Dear reader, that mystery book is not Taylor Swift’s memoir. While Swift continues to dominate live music with her extensive “The Eras Tour” and recent announcement of the “Speak Now” re-records, fans went through a labyrinth of information to theorize about a potential memoir from the Grammy winner. The singer-songwriter has long spoken about how her writing has driven her music career, and has dropped countless references to “poets” and “readers” in recent tracks.
The theories began circulating when Swift announced the “Speak Now” re-records live in Nashville, Tennessee, subsequently posting the new album cover to her social media accounts. The message opened with “Dear reader”, which is also the name of a track on her album “Midnights.” The album drops July 7, but in the caption, Swift’s team references July 9, a date mentioned in the song “Last Kiss.” Unrelated, Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan, announced “4C Untitled Flatiron Nonfiction Summer 2023” ahead of its July 9 release. The publishing house also confirmed the book is a celebrity autobiography, though the celebrity remains anonymous.

The Theories
As Swift is known for her easter eggs and attention to detail in her work, fans connected the dots and guessed that the memoir would be released in conjunction with “Speak Now.” “Last Kiss”, which references July 9, is featured on this album. Additionally, on Swift’s last re-record of “Red”, the singer directed a short film for her 10-minute track “All Too Well.” The ending of the short film depicts a fictionalized Swift at a book reading event as an author.
