Taylor Swift left her final 2023 U.S. “The Eras Tour” date with a blue tinted bang. The singer has long been a fan of numerology, with her fifth studio album being named “1989” after the year she was born. Naturally, on August 9, or 8/9, the singer announced the much anticipated re-recording of “1989” after fans theorized about the date for months.

The singer kicked off the concert wearing blue versions of the several outfits she wears for each set of the lengthy 3-hour “The Eras Tour” show. Fans sensed “1989” was in the air when the singer swapped out the purple ballgown for “Speak Now” track “Enchanted” for a sky blue version, and later followed suit with a blue flowy ensemble for “Folklore”. The singer previously stated that she loves to leave thematic “easter eggs” in her clothing choices that allude to her music.

“1989” has a pale blue color palette, and the mysterious costume changes had fans poised for the big announcement. The re-record marks Swift’s fourth remake. The singer began this process of re-recording her first six studio albums after her masters were sold without her consent to music tycoon Scooter Braun. Swift previously completed “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”, “Red (Taylor’s Version)”, and “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”.

The Wildest Dreams For “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”

There are several theories that continue to circulate about what Swift referred to as the “insane” vault tracks on this album. “Vault songs” refer to songs that Swift wrote at the time of the respective album’s original production, but ultimately never released until now.

Among the vault tracks lies one popular theory among Swift’s listeners. Swift’s groovy “Style” on the album has long been rumored to allude to Swift’s ex boyfriend and fellow Grammy winning musician Harry Styles.

Social Media Reactions

In the decade following their split, the pair continue to speak highly of each others’ musical abilities, and support each others wins in the industry. The seemingly friendly relationship has fans hoping for a Harry Styles feature on “Style”.

Others spotted an allegedly not friendly face in the crowd last night. Model Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift were close friends during 1989’s original 2014 release. Years later, it was rumored that Kloss alerted Scooter Braun to Swift’s masters for purchase. Braun is reportedly close friends with Kloss’ husband Joshua Kushner. Swift and Kloss were not spotted together since the masters sale, with some pointing to certain songs for clues on their friendship breakup.

In the “evermore” track “it’s time to go”, Swift sings “when the words of a sister come back in whispers/That prove she was not in fact what she seemed/Not a twin from your dreams/She’s a crook who was caught.” Swift and Kloss were often said to be “twins” due to their similar short blonde hairstyles at the time, and fans sensed that this 2021 lyric explained why Swift never attended Kloss’ wedding.

It remains unclear where Kloss and Swift stand after the model attended last night’s show. “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” hits streaming October 27.
