At first glance, the title of the show Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan might prompt a double take, since “ghosting” is more often associated with dating than paranormal work. But the Canadian series, which blends celebrity guests with overnight investigations at reported haunted sites, has quickly gained traction across social media as clips circulate on Instagram and TikTok.

The show, created and hosted by Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan, premiered on CBC Gem on January 26, 2024. Together, they travel with guests to locations across Canada that have long-standing claims of paranormal activity. Sites featured in the first season include historic mansions, former jails and rural cabins. Confirmed guests include Kevin Alves, Katie Douglas, Devyn Nekoda, Jade Hassouné and Synthia Kiss.

CBC renewed the series for a second season in July 2024. In 2025, it was announced that Peacock had acquired U.S. streaming rights, expanding the series beyond its Canadian audience.

Online, the show’s visibility has grown steadily. The official Instagram account for Ghosting has surpassed 64,000 followers, with many of its Reels drawing significant attention. Several clips have reached hundreds of thousands of views, and one Halloween-themed post collected more than 531 public comments, reflecting consistent engagement on the platform. The show’s content also circulates widely in reposts and reaction videos across TikTok and Instagram.

Each episode follows a set structure. Hutchie, Finlan and their guest arrive at the location, review the history and reported activity, and prepare audio and video equipment before beginning the nighttime investigation. The show uses night-vision cameras, on-site audio attempts and real-time reactions to document what occurs. The format centers on the guest’s experience, the reported claims attached to the location and any environmental or unexplained events that take place during the investigation.

With a second season underway, continued social-media growth and U.S. streaming on the horizon, Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan has expanded from a Canadian niche series into a title drawing international attention online.
