Technology has always been the defining era of a civilization. The Egyptians built the pyramids, the Romans built roads, the Greeks specialised in weaponry – the list goes on.  In today’s world we are truly empowered by our evolving technology. The internet has created ways to make money we never dreamed possible in the past. It’s created new avenues to explore and new ways to market ourselves as well as the goods and services we offer. Start-ups and entrepreneurs are really having a go at it and many are also espousing their knowledge by way of their social media accounts. If you’re an up and coming entrepreneur yourself, then not only should you have an online presence that supports your business, you should also be following those that have gone before you.

1. Oprah Winfrey

We may as well go big immediately, and it doesn’t get any bigger than Oprah Winfrey. For the last 30+ years Oprah has been a mainstay in our lives with her syndicated show which ran from 1986 to 2011.  A self-made woman, Oprah’s credentials include media executive, television producer, talk show host, actress and philanthropist. Her Instagram account has 16.7 million followers who all benefit from her insights, inspirational messages and discussions with some of the world’s biggest power players.

2. Richard Branson

Branson started off with a magazine, then a mail-order record business which eventually became Virgin Records. Today the Virgin Group is a conglomerate that owns 400 companies – that’s enough to have an influence on the Forex Market! Notable mentions include Virgin Airlines and in the last 10 years, Virgin Galactic. Branson along with other billionaires like Musk and Bezos wants to conquer space and make it available for the commercial scene. Branson’s Instagram page has 4.2 million followers who are all privy to his entrepreneurship motivation and inspiration.

Back in the late 90s Victoria Beckham was part of a “little” band known as the Spice Girls. Author is the New York Times best-seller, ‘Girl, Wash Your Face,’ Rachel Hollis has explored various avenues of success including that of TV personality,  top podcast host,  CCO of The Hollis Copmany and top motivational speaker.  Her motivational prowess is that of high energy and an uncanny ability to empower a female audience.  Her 1.6 million followers are privy to her inspirational quotes. 

6. Ariana Huffington

Founder of the Huffington Post, Ariana Huffington is a Greek-American author, business woman, syndicated columnist and CEO of Thrive Global. Huffington has penned fifteen books and is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of online publication.  Her 735 000 Instagram followers can read very insightful quotes from a wide array of sources.
