Released a few days ago, Kyle Rittenhouse had an exclusive interview with Fox New’s Tucker Carlson on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” The interview, unsurprisingly, did extremely well as this was Rittenhouse’s first interview since being acquitted. On Twitter, many were reacting and responding to his acquittal and also comparing it to Ahmaud Aubrey’s murder, whose murderers were found guilty earlier today.

Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial was important to numerous people on both sides of the political spectrum, as it brought important topics into light such as the 2nd amendment, the right to protest, and the right to defend ourselves. This is also why the interview with Carlson most likely did so well for Fox. And though both sides were committed to understanding and watching Rittenhouse’s trial, many far-right individuals seemed to have envisioned Rittenhouse as a hero. For example, Marjorie Taylor Green introduced a bill today to award a Congressional Gold Medal to Rittenhouse. This award has been given to people such as Walt Disney, George Washington, and Mother Teresa.

Additionally, many of his legal fees were paid for by donations raised by Conservatives. However, some are regretting supporting him after his interview with Tucker Carlson. Rittenhouse explains that he does not think the trial had anything to do with race, but everything to do with self-defense. He also says that he supports the Black Lives Matter movement when done so peacefully. Many conservatives responded to this unhappily, noting their disappointment.

However, he did not exactly win over liberals with this statement either, as many were not believing his statements when he says that he is not a racist person or supports the BLM movement. Rittenhouse also talked about the lack of police in Kenosha during the time, saying that the city of Kenosha had failed citizens and that the national guard should have been called. He also called out President Biden, noting that Biden should “understand facts before making a statement” and that Biden had defamed his character after Biden called Rittenhouse a white supremacist.

Many are concerned that with Rittenhouse being acquitted, he will continue to be idolized by conservatives. As mentioned, this case was important to most throughout the country but especially important to many conservatives and even more so after the acquittal.
