What do you think is the best country to visit? No world traveler are you– or maybe you are, and I am sure you have opinions. Still– few have opinion as educated as the better magazines out there, and Lonely Planet named the best country to visit in 2019 being… okay, drum roll! Badadadada–Sri Lanka!
And looking at the photos in the video above (you should watch the video above!), we can see why!
The island nation in Southeast Asia is gorgeous, with jaw-dropping beaches and absolutely incredible religious sites. Not to mention some absolutely incredible scenery.
Lonely Planet spends months debating which country will win out, but in the end Sri Lanka won because of its “diversity of experiences”. And, of course, its emerging surf scene.
Yeah, that’s right! Didn’t think about the emerging surf scene! If you’re the president of an up and coming country, and your surf scene is for naught, then take a moment and think. Think how to fix such a think!
Gnarly waves, gnarly country. That’s what they say.

In any case, Sri Lanka is building up its tourism industry. The country fought a 26-year civil war which ended in 2009, so travelers have now been able to visit the beautiful country safely.
Well, how about the other countries in the poll? Where did they rank? Germany was ranked second and Zimbabwe third! Copenhagen, Denmark was the number 1 city to visit in 2019. Wait, so Denmark had the #1 city but wasn’t the #1 country? Alright. Get your stuff together, rest of Denmark. Copenhagen has gotten you a littl far, but there’s more work to be done!
