In case you’ve been seeing Ezra Miller trend recently online, you might be wondering what’s going on. Miller, an American actor known for films like “The Flash” and “The Perks of Being a Wildflower” was recently arrested for a second time in Hawaii, this time for assault. The actor was arrested in late March for disrupting at a karaoke bar, where he “became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke” according to a police report. Now, Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, is trending again after being arrested for “second-degree assault.”

The first incident happened around the same time the Oscars did, meaning that more people were focused on the infamous Oscars slap, Miller still trended online as people reacted to the news. Now, all of the attention is on them, as this event indicated an escalation in behavior so soon after being arrested only a few weeks prior. Allegedly, the police came after they were reported to be irritated after being asked to leave a gathering, occurring at about 1 A.M. According to Hawaiian police, they threw a chair and hit a 26-year-old woman, who was then injured with a cut on her forehead.

Now, many people are wondering how Miller’s reactions compare to other things in the news lately. For example, actor Johnny Depp’s trial with Amber Heard is currently ongoing, causing controversy as Heard accused Depp of abuse, which many argue ruined his career and might not have been true. Depp was not able to get any roles after these allegations and believes his reputation was stained by these allegations. Miller, however, has seemingly not had any backlash career-wise, and only faces criticism and consequence from the law and those online who believe he should not continue with his roles as the superhero The Flash.

Some on Twitter also compared the situation to Will Smith, who has recently been banned from the Academy for the next 10 years for slapping Chris Rock. Some wonder how the media has not picked up more on Miller’s actions, and how they still have a career. Many also compared the outrage from celebrities when it came to the Will Smith slap, but have stayed quiet otherwise when it came to Miller. Overall, many believe that Miller is being treated differently from others by the media or by those in the entertainment industry, which is definitely not sitting well with those on Twitter.
