YouTuber who Catches Predators on Roblox has been Banned from the Game

//

Summary:

  • Roblox banned YouTuber Schlep for confronting child predators, sending a cease-and-desist letter threatening legal action.

  • Schlep argues his efforts led to arrests, but Roblox says his actions undermine safety protocols and expose users to risk.

  • Roblox warns against vigilantism on the platform, urging users to report suspicious activity through official channels and contact law enforcement.

Roblox is at the center of a growing moderation dispute after YouTuber Schlep said the company banned his accounts and sent a cease-and-desist letter over his series of videos confronting alleged child predators on the platform. The creator posted the notice to X on Saturday and addressed the situation in a YouTube video, arguing his team’s work helped lead to six arrests over the past year.

In the letter shared by Schlep, Roblox wrote: “This letter serves as a formal cease and desist notice regarding your unauthorized and harmful activities on the Roblox platform. Your actions are a violation of Roblox policies and directly undermine Roblox’s safety efforts and, critically, are exposing our users to increased risk.” The company added that while his “stated intentions may be to protect children,” failing to report suspicious activity through official channels “actively interferes with [its] established safety protocols.”

Roblox has not commented on the specific creator in its newsroom post, but last week the company published a safety update warning that “vigilante groups or individuals” who entrap users or self-police the platform may face removal or bans, and urged people to use official reporting tools or contact law enforcement.

In a 21-minute video titled “Roblox Is Threatening to Sue Me For Protecting Kids,” the YouTuber disputed Roblox’s claims, said this is the first time the company reached out to him directly, and reiterated that his efforts contributed to six arrests tied to conduct on Roblox. He also shared personal history as motivation for the work.

Schlep’s X posts show he views the ban and legal notice as punishment for exposing predatory behavior. “Every account I’ve ever made on Roblox has been terminated, and Roblox sent a cease and desist letter to me,” he wrote, alongside screenshots of the correspondence.

Roblox’s stated policy and context

Roblox says its safety program combines AI moderation with thousands of specialists and formal partnerships with law enforcement, including the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The company encourages users to report potential crimes to local authorities and to NCMEC’s CyberTipline, and it maintains a Trusted Flagger program for close partners to escalate serious cases.
