So Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James hosted a Twitter Q&A to promote her new book Grey, a retelling of the kinky best-selling trilogy from Christian Grey’s perspective. People were invited to send questions under the hashtag #AskELJames to get the juicy details on the wealthy playboy’s controversial relationship with young, naive Anastasia Steele.

The problem, and the reason James’ publicist should be fired immediately, is that Fifty Shades is a perfect storm of things that piss off the internet: abusive relationships, stalking, weak female characters, misrepresentation of dominant/submissive relationships, misuse of fan fiction, anything to do with the Twilight series, and an author who has a tendency to get into online arguments with her critics.

Now those critics are having a field day on the #AskELJames tag, and the snark is brutal and hilarious.
