90-Year-Old Tortoise Gets Wheels for Legs, is Now Earth's Slowest Cyborg

Mrs. T has a new lease on life after losing legs in rat attack

  • This tortoise may look fast. Those wheels strapped to her shell make it look like she's about to hit the afterburners and teach some hare a lesson in proper pacing. But no, this tortoise is just as slow as a normal tortoise, even if she is technically bionic now.

According to the Guardian, Mrs. T was hibernating this winter (as tortoises do, apparently) when a rat broke into her hutch and attacked. She lost her two front legs, and her enterprising owners attached two model airplane wheels to her shell.
