  • There is no denying it — the cast of Stranger Things are IT right now. From Season 1 to Season 2, the cast has definitely done some growing up, but, at the end of the day, they are all still kids.

Since the cast has stepped into the spotlight, there has been a problem with the press, and fans in general, sexualizing the young stars. In May of this year, Insider was put under fire by Twitter users after they put Millie Bobby Brown on their “worst dressed” list, claiming she looked “comfy, but lost in a shapeless white dress.” Twitter account @elevenstare pointed out, “She’s THIRTEEN. What’s she supposed to wear, a bustier and mini skirt?” Needless to say, many Twitter users agreed — there was no need for the site to comment on the appearance of a young girl.

Most recently, however, 27-year-old model Ali Michael was called out for posting this about 14-year-old Finn Wolfhard.

  • In her Instagram story, the model posted a photo of Wolfhard with the caption, “Not to be weird, but hit me up in 4 years.”

Because Instagram story is time sensitive, fans were sure to screenshot the post and upload it to Twitter, where many users had something to say.

  • Ali Michael later released a statement to Teen Vogue saying, in part —

In this instance, it has become clear to me that asking a character to ‘call in four years’ and inappropriately tagging the underage actor who plays the character (Mike) was upsetting, suggestive and concerning for my audience. It was never my intention (nor has it ever been) to sexualise a minor in any way shape or form. To those I offended or misled, I apologise for a post made in haste and lacking in sensitivity, particularly considering the landscape of the present culture.

When asked by TMZ what he thought of the model’s post, Finn Wolfhard said, in part, “Oh, that was nuts. That was gross.” For his full response, you can check out the video below:

  • Overall, the Internet agrees that these kids deserve to be kids, despite being actors.
