Using video for learning has been practiced since the dawn of the VHS tape. Online videos however, haven’t been so widely received in schools over the years, due to concern over students venturing off into pop culture viral video land. But times they are a changin.’ Classrooms around the world can now pro-actively usher their students into the digital age with the new online educational hub YouTube for Schools network, a free resource filled with hundreds of thousands of videos created by esteemed partners such as the Smithsonian, TED, Steve Spangler Science and Numberphile. Any online-induced ADHD among students is curbed with school administrators having the ability to grant user access to only the educational videos, not the latest entertainment trends and cat videos.
