After a video surfaced on June 19 showing schoolchildren verbally abusing 69-year-old bus monitor Karen Klein, people from all over the Internet grouped together to show their support for Klein by raising thousands of dollars to fund her very own dream vacation.
More than 17,000 donors across the country donated more than $358,000 to fund a trip in only two days. Donations are still being accepted via an Indiegogo account and will be for the next 29 days.

The video of Klein’s verbal abuse at the hands of school children was disturbing; insults ranged from comments about her weight to her low income and some even took jabs at her children. The harassment was recorded by student Luis Recio Jr, and was shortly uploaded onto YouTube by user capitaltrigga. Within only several hours the video went viral and reached the popular website Reddit. The video has already been viewed more than 2 million times and has generated more than 20,000 “dislikes” on YouTube.
