For a long time, genre TV has had infamously mediocre, and sometime downright bad, special effects. While that's undoubtedly shifting, and has been for the past decade, they generally still don't compare to those of movies, whose multi-million dollar budgets and lengthy post-production schedules run circles around those in the fast-paced TV world. But the popular fantasy world of HBO's Game of Thrones has effects that compare with, or even surpass, some of the best movies around. How do they do it?
