It Took 3 Months to Make These Movie Characters Sing “Uptown Funk”

  • 280 movie characters unite to recite every single lyric from the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars collab “Uptown Funk,” a little song you may not have heard about if you are one of those people who goes out of their way to not hear about popular things so you can brag about your ignorance at parties.

Selected films come from every genre and era, though with some focus on nostalgic hits from the ’80s and ’90s. (Christopher Walken makes multiple appearances from both “Pulp Fiction” and “Suicide Kings.”)

The compilation was put together by the YouTube channel DonDraperSaysWhat, which previously made a similar movie-based remix of the song “Crossover Songs Are Too Damn Short” from retro-metal outfit Lich King.

That was wasn’t SUPER popular. Possibly because Lich King hasn’t had a huge breakout pop culture moment… YET.

But this one, set to Sir Mix-a-Lot’s classic “Baby Got Back,” did a bit better, garnering 3.7 million views since first going up in August of 2012.

Hey, that song’s pretty catchy. Someone should really sample it and make a new song out of it, then make a cool, sexy video to go along with that song, then complain on Twitter when that video isn’t recognized for an award on, let’s say, MTV, then get into a fight with Taylor Swift about it, but then make up and say everything is cool again.

I know, I know, kind of far-fetched. But it could happen.
