Tiffany Haddish’s NY Film Critics Awards Speech is Pure Fire

  • Tiffany Haddish became our favorite so quickly, it’s starting to become hard to remember a time when she wasn’t! She recently won the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) award for Best Supporting Actress for her now fame making performance in Girls Trip, and her speech is a must-see! It lasts a beautiful seventeen minutes, and every single moment of it is breathtaking.

  • Tiffany Haddish begins by making sure her name is spelled correctly on her award (it is), and then she talks about how she is much like the multi-armed statue of Quan Yin behind her (because she’s napping and working at the same time), her relationship to critics, and flirts with Michael B. Jordan, by saying “I’m not trying to get pregnant yet, Michael, but I’m working on it. B. Jordan.” Good luck, baby Haddish-Jordan.

Her most beautiful statement, however, came in the middle of the speech when she talked about her experience in the foster care system and the example she set, saying —

When you’re a little kid going through the [foster-care] system, you wonder, “Does anybody even know I’m alive?” To be able to be this example to so many youth — there’s so many people like me that you guys have no clue about. But they coming. Because I kicked the fucking door open.

I love this speech — and what a blessing it is to have Tiffany Haddish a star at last!
