Shayfer James finds himself at home performing dark piano songs that are equal parts beautiful and fun. He assembled a great band including Dusty Bones (drums), Jeremy Gillespie (bass), and Dante Edmont (organ) to make music for the “sinners” (what Shayfer calls his fans) of the world; the songs are a welcome dark wave that takes the listener in unexpected directions and unexpected realms of emotion. Shayfer has a busy future ahead of him with the release of his new album Counterfeit Arcade on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 and subsequent shows in support of the album including his big CD Release Show at Bowery Electric on December 1st. If you are in New York City consider this show a must see.
